Banco Comafi S.A., an Argentina bank, bought 50% of Senegocia.com, a corporate business - to- business electronic- commerce company for $2.4 millon, the Buenos Aires Economico newspaper reported Wednesday. The company, which also offers financial services over the Internet, has earmarked the funds for developing. Senegocia.com, whose other principal shareholder is Chile´s Los Navegantes S.A, plans to pour money into its e-marketplace, a platform that enables corporate clients to buy and sell goods and services over the internet, the newspaper reported. Senegocia.com which began operations earlier this year, operates in Chile, Argentina and Perú. It currently caster to some 10,000 corporate clients and has carried out some 200,000 transactions here for a total $20 million. The funds come two days after Officenet S.A, a Buenos Aires-based online office supplies suppier targeting small- and medium-sized companies in Latin America, raised $ 34 million for expansion from a group of investors led by U.S. bank BankBoston N. A. and Spanish Bank Banco Santander Central Hispan. That investement represented one of the largest in a dot-com in Latin America since the Nasdaq plunged in April drying up financing for dot-coms with bright ideas but little revenue. A number of online firms have since collapsed or put expansion plans on the backburner. |
